I am the grandson of Lt. R.V. Chrane. I would like to thank all of you for your service, and ask you to please contact me with stories or comments of my grandfather or your selves during your times in the Navy. Thank you.
GMT2 active duty 3/66 - 6/70 (NAS Atsugi) followed by 34 years in USNR retiring in Oct 2003 as Supply Corps O5. My enlisted days were most memorable. I have kept in touch with a GMT, TM and SK from ACDU.
Hey out there, didn't know this place was out here.
See a lot of shipmates, good to see the tradition alive. Just like the Christmas cards of days past.

Down loaded the Gunners book, and after 150 pages am satisfied. You could not get the volume of info for the price of 2 mixed drinks. Which is about what the book cost to down load.Truly the faces change but the names remain the same. For you Big Deck guys, A sprinkler wedge is the same as a test casting. Both are scary for the same reason. :)
Greetings Keepers of the Dragon; After 12 years my book "Brotherhood of Doom: Memoirs of a Navy Nuclear Weaponsman" has finally been published. One entry in our guestbook tells of the Ticonderoga accident. I was a eye witness, and have it in my book. Many of you are in the book (some name changes). The book is 8 1/2" x 11", contains 436 pages, published by BookLocker for $23.95 paperback, $11.95 for e-book, at:
http://www.booklocker.com/books/3222.html
It has Ray Margeson's picture in it! I plan on bringing a few of the books to the 2008 reunion. I wrote it mainly to honor the many outstanding Keepers of the Dragon I knew over my 30-year career, and to document the important work we did for our country.
Attended GMT "A" School as a Re-tread SH3 in 85. Served aboard Forrestal a WT3 & 2 (86-89) MAUW Brunswick, ME (89-92) and am now at Pantex. This truly is the mecca of NWs and if you are interested in "Keeping the Dragon", again, contact me. Also, interested in reminiscing with anyone who recognizes my name.
Greetings,Jim Oskins and I have published "Broken Arrow, The Declassified History of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Accidents".
The book chronicles the 36 known Broken Arrows and is available from Lulu.com for $49.95 paperback, or $25 as a pdf download.
http://www.lulu.com/content/1409049
321 pages, b&w printing with photo's and info from accident reports, EOD activities, and much, much more.
We provide some additional details on the loss of the P-5M off the Oregon/Washington coast, the loss of the A-4 off the Ticonderoga, and a summary of the loss of the USS Scorpion.
Additionally, we provide info declassified from FCDNA on the four Thor missile accidents at Johnston Island in 1962.
Yours, Mike
Jim Little, Also heard that he had passed away. Don't know this for a fact. Do know his wife passed away. I tried the listed Phone # and got a no longer in service response.
Jim Little,If you do a search for John R. Munson, SC, you will find his address and phone number. I saw John and his wife back in the summer of 1994 at his home (same as listed in the Google search I did) in Ladsen, SC.
Served from 1960 to 1991, ended as CWO4. This has been a sad year losing my old shipmate Ray Steele. I'm still looking for GMTCM John Munson. If anyone has a clue where he might be, let me know. My book Brotherhood of Doom: memoirs of a Navy Nuclear Weaponsman is being published by BookLocker, and should be on their website in about two weeks (http://www.booklocker.com/). It's taken 12 years to write, and looks somewhat like a phonebook (8 x 11, 432 pages). Those that gave permission have their name in it. It was an honor to be part of the "Brotherhood of Doom". Great job Ray cleaning up our website!
I was trying to find a way to replace my NWTGPAC coffee mug which has been with me long enough that the logo is all but worn off and stumbled on this site. I will be sending my application and dues right away. I had no idea there was such an assoc.

Being an AQAN on the USS Midway I thought it was an inconvenience to say the least along with a few other words I won't mention. Now, I consider it an honor to have served in this capacity many years later. If someone could please let me know if that makes me eligible to become a member of your fine organization, please let me know.

I Made WT3 on last test right before rate was disestablished, I believe I was the only one in the navy to make WT3 on that test.
I am now a police officer in my home state of Michigan.
I am very proud to say, that I served as a member of a group of elite and extraordinary sailors who were the best in the fleet. Go NAVY!

Comments:I went to GMT "A" School in Albuquerque in 1964 and then to the USS Dixie (AD-14). I was only on the Dixie about 6 months and was transferred to NAS Guam, Weapons Division. I also went to Weapons Technical Monitor School at Cubi Point, PI. I volunteered to go to the Naval Advisory Group (Junk Force), DaNang, to get off Guam and eventually ended up in River Patrol Boats. I got out, went into the Reserves, got fed up with the Reserves and got out completely for 12 years. In 1981, I moved to the SF Bay area and rejoined the Reserves with Special Boat Unit XI at Mare Island. I am still with Special Boats, now called Teams. I was recalled for the first Gulf War and again for OIF, in March of '03. I am due to be released in April '05 unless we are extended another year. I am now the Operations LCPO at Special Boat Team 22 in Stennis, MS and spend about ¾ of my time in Central and South America.

I did ADT there for about 18 months then the bay. Remember the sailor killed on the access road? I think his name was Umbarger. I hated to go down there at night and change those lights!

Comments:Served at Marine Barracks Waikele, Oahu Hawaii. 1967-1968Like Mike Wise I walked all the posts, or stood tower duty... even ran the tunnels when the Plt Sgt got pissed at me.. turning on all the tunnel lights...
seems to me there were about one hundred lights and if not one hundred, it seemed like more..
Seems strange so many folks were at Waikele since the place only had maybe
a total of 60 or so Marines and 20 or less Sailors on base....
Must have been pretty important, Any one have ideas?
